Newsletter Bonus Scene

Hey guys!

As many of you know, I’ve begun a monthly newsletter. This is a new venture for me, but one that I’m very excited about! It’s going to be one of the best ways to stay up-to-date on what I’m currently working on, but more importantly, it’s how you can get bonus content!

By the way, if you didn’t get a chance to see June’s newsletter, here is the link: http://conta.cc/28QyZY6

Before Adrift launched I offered all of my newsletter sign-ups a scene from the book before it had been released. Now that it’s live, I’ve been thinking about other bonus material.

I’m considering offering deleted scenes from my books, but unfortunately (or luckily, depending on how you look at it), I don’t have a lot of things that I’ve cut from them. Adrift only has 1 scene that I removed. I don’t think it was even finished before I decided that it slowed the flow of the book, but it might be something that you’d like to read! It’s definitely an option.

Even better than a semi-finished deleted scene, is a brand new one. I’m writing it right now and is going to be several short scenes (I hope) featuring Karo and Aevum’s wedding. That scene is something that, for various reasons, I chose not to include in Adrift. Those who have read the novel understand that I had to carefully balance the past and present timelines- I felt that the wedding wouldn’t fit into the flow of when the timelines converge. As I said- it was like walking a tightrope. BUT it makes great bonus material, and something I’d really like to tell!

I’ve begun writing the scene but have been spending time online looking for inspiration. I got married before the popularity of Pinterest so now I’m looking to the site to find ideas for Aevum’s wedding dress. 🙂 I’ve posted a few options to my Writing Board if you guys would like to see. It’s been fun searching for a gown that suits her.

I’ve also been trying to think outside of the box when it comes to their ceremony since they’re from a different planet. I’ve researched weddings from around Earth and there are a lot of elements the different cultures have in common: their families are usually present for the ceremony, the couple usually wears clothing that’s specially chosen, and there’s a party afterwards. I think the Sirilians would do all of that as well but their culture is different than our own, so their wedding will have a few unfamiliar elements. Now I just have to decide what those will be. 🙂
