“What are you working on now?”

Authors write from the middle“What are you working on now?”

It’s a question I get asked all the time.

I have many stories floating around in my mind; many characters that I plan on spotlighting in their own stories. But for various reasons, it’s not time for their stories to be told. For instance, I’m dying to write about Torei and Tolani, Jayda’s twin sisters. The problem with those two- they’re still too young! In Alien Incursion they were just turning 16 years old… so I must wait.

I had the intention of book #5 being part of the Arathian Series, but after writing Adrift, I’ve changed my mind. Book #5 will be the next installment in the Sirilians. I’m very excited to dive into this story and have already begun working on it!

Actually… to be honest, I’m not so much “working” on it, as tossing ideas around. In my mind I can picture my leading male character and I can see what’s going to happen to him. I also see his female. Right now she’s unnamed, but she’s beginning to take shape.

I once heard a sculptor describe his art, not as chiseling the marble to create what he wanted, but as discovering the subjects that were already inside and setting them free. That may be cheesy, but that’s how I feel about my characters; it’s as if they already exist somewhere in the universe. My job is to find them and tell their stories.

I haven’t written anything for the next book yet, I haven’t story boarded. But I AM working on it. I promise!
