Overcoming Summer Break

I spent all morning thinking about this blog entry and what I was going to write about. I wanted to tell you what I’ve been working on this past week, but unfortunately, my week wasn’t conducive to much writing. The main reason- summer vacation. This means that not only are my children home, but I Back-to-School-Saleshave a constant parade of pint-sized friends in and out of the house, ringing the doorbell at all hours.

You may ask yourself: why isn’t she sending them outside to play? The answer is simple- heat. It’s
HOT here in Sicily. Imagine Las Vegas-type heat. I’m from Oregon, my girls were born in Alaska; we’re not equipped to handle summers like this! Actually, no one’s kids are playing outside in the middle of the day, which means that they’re in someone’s house. Usually mine.

The only way I got ANY writing done this past week was with my trusty Bose headphones and Pandora music 🙂  Seriously… when does school start? Two more weeks? I can make it! I have a feeling that I’ll get more done in the first week the kids are in school than I did the entire summer!!

My week wasn’t an entire waste- I DID finish the two bonus scenes I’ve been working on (YAY!!), and worked with my narrator on the first several chapters of Adrift’s audiobook. It sounds AWESOME! I can’t wait for you all to hear it! Hopefully I’ll have a sample uploaded to Facebook really soon.
